Over the last 3 decades, I’ve been to Boracay more times than I can remember and explored most parts of this piece of paradise. In this travel guide, I’m going to share my favorite things to do, as well as must-visit tourist spots in the island. Located off the northwestern tip of Panay Island in central Philippines, Boracay is often included on lists of the World’s best islands and best beaches. Taking center stage is White Beach, a 4-kilometer paradise prized for its incredibly inviting blue waters, perfect sunset views, and powder-fine white sand. Paraw Sailing Paraw Sunset Sailing in Boracay, Malay, Aklan, Philippines My #1 favorite thing to do in Boracay! Paraw Sailing is a must-do for first-time visitors. It’s a magical experience to glide over the waves in traditional outrigger boats with colorful sails, even for me, who has experienced it many times over the years. The ride lasts for around 30 minutes. The best time to go is during the sunset golden hour. Just search “Boracay sunset time” on Google and book your timeslot an hour before that. White Beach White Beach in Boracay, Malay, Aklan, Philippines White Beach is the main attraction of Boracay. You won’t miss it! At 4 kilometers long, it has clear blue waters and powdery white sand, which have earned Boracay a spot on the list of the world’s best beaches and islands by many globally recognized publications. The sunset view from White Beach is also renowned as one of the best in the world. Location — White Beach, Boracay, Malay, Aklan, Philippines. Save on Google Maps. How to go — From Cagban or Tambisaan Ports, the entry points to Boracay, ride an e-Trike, Hop-on Hop-off (HOHO) bus, or shuttle to the White Beach area. To get around, there’s a pedestrian-only beach path that runs the entire length of White Beach. If the distance is too far for you to walk (such as getting from Station 1 to Station 3), a practical option is to walk to the main road and ride an e-Trike or HOHO bus to the nearest drop-off. White Beach Stations White Beach is divided into 3 main areas: Station 1 (north) — This area is the most picturesque and has the finest, whitest sand. Here, you can find more upscale resorts and famous landmarks like Willy’s Rock. HOHO bus stops: #H11 Astoria Boracay, #H12 Kolai Mangyan, #H13 Willy’s Rock, #H14 Two Seasons, #H15 The Lind, #H15A Robinsons Station B Station 2 (middle) — Offers more options for nightlife, mid-range hotels, dining, and shopping areas like D’Mall. HOHO bus stops: #H6 Azalea Hotel, #H7 Jollibee, #H8 Balabag Lake / D’mall Station 3 (south) — Known for its laid-back vibe and more budget-friendly accommodations, it’s less busy than Stations 1 and 2. The sand is generally less fine and white as well. Puka Beach Puka Beach, in Boracay, Malay, Aklan, Philippines If White Beach feels too commercialized, Puka Beach is the perfect alternative. Named after the Puka Shell, this serene beach offers a glimpse of Boracay before mass tourism took over, along with vibrant blue green waters and a lovely view of nearby Carabao Island. Boracay HOHO Bus Express One of the best ways to get around Boracay is the Hop-on Hop-off (HOHO) bus, which has stops all around the island. It offers more comfort than an e-Trike since it is air-conditioned and more spacious. You can choose from a 1-day, 2-days, or 3-days unlimited rides pass. Stop include Puka Beach, ferry terminals (Cagban and Tambisaan), White Beach, Boracay Newcoast, Bulabog Beach & more. Book here Boracay HOHO Xpress Bus Pass The Hop On Hop Off Xpress is a HOHO bus service that passes through seven (7) tourist stops in Boracay. There’s fewer stops, allowing a faster transfers between White Beach, Puka Beach, Newcoast and Bulabog. The rate is PHP 250 for 1-day pass. PHP 350 for 2 days. PHP 450 for 3 days. Book here After booking, just present the QR code to board the HoHo Xpress Bus. Remember, you cannot ride the regular HOHO bus if you have the Xpress pass (and vice-versa). They are separate services. The Xpress pass does not have a stop at Cagban or Tambisaan, so get a regular HOHO bus pass instead if you need transport to the jetty ports. Travel time is around 20 to 30 minutes by e-Trike or HOHO Bus. Drop-off at bus stop #H18. Island Hopping Tour Island Hopping in Boracay, Philippines One of the best tours you can do in Boracay. The island hopping route includes beaches around Boracay island and nearby islets . Although you can reach spots like Puka Beach by land from White Beach, the island hopping tour is the way to go if you want to visit sites that need boat crossings like Magic Island cliff diving, Crystal Cove & Crocodile Island. Boracay Land Tour Cujo Keyhole in Boracay Newcoast, Malay, Aklan, Philippines See Boracay beyond White Beach! There are a lot of beautiful places to visit around the island that’s accessible by roads including Puka Beach, Boracay Newcoast, Bulabog Beach, Diniwid Beach, Ilig-iligan Beach, Mount Luho & more. To get around, you can either go by HOHO bus, book an organized land tour or charter a private e-trike. 2-3 hours is enough to explore the main spots in the northern part of Boracay like Cujo’s Keyhole, Newcoast, Puka Beach & Diniwid Beach. Newcoast Beaches & Keyhole Cove 2 Beach in Boracay Newcoast, Malay, Aklan, Philippines Boracay Newcoast is a must-visit spot you should include in your Boracay land tour itinerary. Here, you can find the iconic Lapus-Lapus Keyhole, three exclusive white sand beach coves, multiple hotels, a dining and commercial district & more. I loved booking my hotel here during my recent trips to Boracay because it’s a lot less crowded compared to White Beach and the sunrise view from here is the best! Newcoast is open to everyone, even if you are not staying at the hotels (Savoy, Belmont, Chancellor or Fairways). Location — Boracay Newcoast by Megaworld. East side of Boracay Island.. Save on Google Maps. How to go — The hotels at Newcoast offers free transfers for checked-in guests. You can also go via HOHO bus (stop #H17) or e-trike. The HOHO bus stops at Savoy/Belmont hotels, Cove 2 Beach and Keyhole. From there, you can walk, rent a bike or ATV to get around (if you want to go to the Keyhole, for example). Boracay Sunset White Beach in Boracay, Malay, Aklan, Philippines The world-famous sunset view from Boracay Island is not to be missed. Facing west, the entire stretch of White Beach enjoys a clear, unobstructed view of the sunset. Just find a good spot along the beach to relax and watch as the sky changes from blue to golden, and then to purplish-pink. Sunset time is also when Stations 1 and 2 are most crowded, so if you want a more peaceful vibe, check out less central locations like Diniwid-Sinagpa (end of Station 1), Angol Beach (end of Station 2), or Punta Bunga Beach (a.k.a Station Zero). 8. Crystal Kayak Crystal Kayak at White Beach, in Boracay, Malay, Aklan, Philippines I got my best Boracay awra shots during the Crystal Kayak photoshoot. The session includes a photographer/guide who was amazing at directing all the poses and capturing the photos. There are many spots for the Crystal Kayak shoot, but the best for me is near Willy’s Rock. Book here How to go — Meetup at Astoria Station 1 near HOHO bus stop #H11 9. Enjoy Water Activities Jet Ski in Boracay, Philippines Boracay is renowned for its diverse and thrilling water activities. From adrenaline-pumping sports to leisurely fun, there’s something for everyone to enjoy in the island’s stunning blue waters. Sinagpa-Diniwid Beach Mother Mary Cave at Singapa, in Boracay, Philippines I keep coming back to this beautiful spot, found at the north end of Station 1. Definitely, one of my favorite places to visit in Boracay. A foot trail along the cliffed coast leads to a hidden cave with an amazing view of Boracay’s beautiful turquoise water. The sunset view here is stunning too! and the best part is there’s usually no crowds here. From Sinagpa, you can walk all the way to Diniwid Beach. Location — North of White Beach. Next beach after Station 1.. Save on Google Maps. How to go — Drop off at HOHO bus stop #15A (Robinsons Station B), from there it’s a 500-meter walk to Sinagpa. You can also ride an e-trike to take you directly to Sinagpa beachfront or simply, walk from Station 1. Additionally, you can follow the road beside Citymall Boracay (HOHO bus #16) to get to Diniwid Beach. 11. Angol Beach Cave, Station 3 Angol, Station 3, in Boracay, Malay, Aklan, Philippines This is the south end of White Beach, Station 3. Here, you can walk through a cave that leads to Angol Beach. This hidden spot is the perfect beach escape and nature retreat. I also love going here during sunset. 12. Bulabog Beach Bulabog Beach, in Boracay, Malay, Aklan, Philippines Running parallel to White Beach on the “back side” of Boracay, Bulabog Beach is renowned for water sports like windsurfing and kiteboarding. Facing east, it’s best to visit during sunrise. Bulabog Beach is also a popular photo spot because of its Instagramable leaning coconut trees. Location — Eastern coast of Boracay Island. Save on Google Maps. How to go — HOHO bus stop #H9. Bulabog Beach is a short walk away from D’mall and Balabag Lake, along the main road. 13. Punta Bunga and Banyugan Beach Beach Crimson Beachfront along Station Zero, in Boracay, Philippines Also known as Station Zero, the beaches of Punta Bunga and Banyugan are home to three of Boracay’s most luxurious resorts including Shangri-la, Crimson and Movenpick. Its location along a remote coast in Yapak, offers an exclusive vibe away from the crowd at White Beach. Since the beaches faces west, they are also a great spots to see the sunset. Location — Brgy. If you're looking for a cheaper place to stay, keep a lookout for accommodations inland, but not more than 10 minutes away walking distance from White Beach. There are also plenty of luxury resorts hidden in secluded beach coves and hilltop locations all around the island.
