Iloilo for First-Timers

✈️ Getting there: Fly directly into Iloilo International Airport (ILO), with daily domestic flights from Manila, Cebu, Davao & more. Plus, international flights from Hong Kong, Singapore, and Bangkok

🌞 Best Time to Visit: January to May is ideal for sunny beach days & calm seas. For cooler weather, December to February is best for heritage & food tours. Visit around the 4th Sunday of January for the Dinagyang Festival.

🚕 Getting Around: Use car/taxi apps like Grab and Maxim for hassle-free rides around the Iloilo City area. For a cheaper, more local experience, you can easily hop on traditional or modern jeepneys, local buses, and tricycles.

⏳ How many days: 3 to 5 days is the sweet spot, for an intro to Iloilo, day tour to Gigantes Island and side trip to Guimaras Island.

Day 1 (Iloilo City): Start your food & heritage crawl with a steaming bowl of the iconic La Paz Batchoy. Tour the historic city heritage sites by day, then balance it out with a sunset stroll along the Iloilo River Esplanade and nightlife at Megaworld.

Day 2 (Southern Heritage): Travel down the scenic coastal towns of Southern Iloilo. See “heaven on earth” at Garin Farm in San Joaquin and the UNESCO Heritage Site-listed Miagao Church.

Day 3 (Gigantes Islands): Day-trip to the mystical island paradise with emerald saltwater lagoons, towering karst cliffs, pristine white sandbars, and legendary fresh scallops.

Day 4 (Guimaras Tour): Take a 15-minute ferry ride + land tour to the home of the “world’s sweetest mangoes,” massive windmills, and quiet beach coves.

Day 5 (Jaro & Departures): Drop by historic Jaro district for pasalubong before heading to the airport.

DAY 1: Iloilo City Tour

8 AM – Jaro Plaza quick photo stop.

10 AM – Calle Real. Photo stop: Eusebio Villanueva Building.
10:20 AM – Maritime History Museum.
11 AM – Try Roberto’s Queen Siopao & meatballs.
12 PM – Economic History Museum + Plaza Libertad.
1 PM – Iloilo Central Market.
2 PM – Iloilo Hotel check-in.
3 PM – Molo Church & Molo Plaza. Must-try: Joan’s Fishball.
3:20 PM – Molo Mansion. Must-try: Baye-Baye Ice Cream at Happy Endings.
5 PM – Iloilo River Esplanade.
6 PM – Megaworld-Iloilo Business Park. Photo stops: St. Honore, Festive Walk, Casa Emperador, Brandy Museum.
7:30 PM – Dinner. Options: Iloilo Fishing Port – Seafood Paluto, Ondoy’s, Bourbon Street, Monkey Grounds, Buto’t Balat, Ocean City, Granary (Richmonde Hotel).

DAY 2: Southern Iloilo Heritage

8 AM – Travel to San Joaquin (1 hour). Modern jeepney or van.
9:30 AM – Garin Farm Stairway to Heaven. Brunch.
11:30 AM – San Joaquin Church.
12:00 PM – San Joaquin Cemetery.
12:45 PM – Miagao Church.
2 PM – Late lunch at Villa Beach. Tatoy’s Manokan or Breakthrough.
3:30 PM – Balay nga Bato.
5 PM – Iloilo Sunset Boulevard.
7 PM – Dinner. Options: Punot, Seventy N Coffee + Drinkery.

DAY 3: Gigantes Islands Tour

4 AM – Gigantes Day Tour pick-up. Travel to Bancal Port, Carles (3 hours).
8:30 AM – Boat departure to Gigantes Islands.
9:30 AM – Pulupandan Island & Cabugao Gamay Island.
12 PM – Lunch at Lantangan Beach. Must-try: scallops!
1:30 PM – Tanke Saltwater Lake.
2:30 PM – Antonia Beach + Mini Boracay.
3 PM – Bantigue Sandbar.
4:30 PM – Bancal Port arrival.
8 PM – Iloilo City arrival.

DAY 4: Guimaras Land Tour

9:15 AM – Parola Wharf (Iloilo City Proper) to Guimaras ferry
9:30 AM – Jordan Wharf, Guimaras arrival. Guimaras Land Tour pick-up
10 AM – San Lorenzo Windmills
10:25 AM — Guimaras sign at Guimaras Provincial Capitol
10:30 AM — Early lunch: Pitstop Mango Pizza
12:30 PM — Guisi Lighthouse
3 PM — Alubihod Beach. Photo stop: Hanol Brunch.
5 PM — ETA Jordan Wharf. Ferry back to Iloilo.

12 PM: Hotel check-out. Travel to Iloilo Airport or onward destination.
