Take a breather from the hustle of city life and travel to Lake Sebu in South Cotabato, a charming town where the T’boli and Ubo tribes thrive. A culture trip to this municipality lets you in on the local lifestyle, particularly their bead making, brass casting, and wood carving heritage. More than those, Lake Sebu is also one of the Philippines’ prime eco-tourism destinations.

The center of attraction in Lake Sebu is, of course, the lake. It’s a great place to cruise around in a canoe early morning to catch the sunrise and enjoy the mood-enhancing views of the surrounding mountains and rainforests. Beyond the lake, including its little islets, you must not miss the Seven Waterfalls, a magnificent network of waterfalls, each with a character of its own. You can only have the best view of these waterfalls via the Seven Falls zipline, the highest in Southeast Asia. It’s the most popular attraction for those who can brave getting suspended 180 meters from the ground.

Lake Sebu may be a far-flung town, but it’s a destination worthy of squeezing in when you travel to General Santos City or Davao City. It will make your trip even more meaningful.
