What I booked: AIS 5G eSIM

Best for short trips and light use. AIS has reliable speeds and the widest 5G network in Thailand. I had no problems using it all over Bangkok, Pattaya, Ayutthaya, Chiang Mai, and Chiang Rai.

I usually book on Klook, but it’s worth comparing prices on Agoda and Trip.com. There are a lot of packages to choose from, so just pick what fits your trip length and data needs.

5GB total data is enough for 3–5 days if you mainly use mobile data for Google Maps, booking Grab rides, and uploading stories.

How to Use eSIM

Activating eSIMs on Klook is easy. Do this just before your flight so you’ll have internet right when you arrive.

STEP 1: Open the Klook app and open your booking confirmation page.

Step 2: Tap the “Activate” button.

STEP 3: Wait for activation process to finish. Sometimes it’s instant. Other times, it takes a while.

STEP 4: Turn on “Data Roaming”. Best practice is to do this when you arrive in Thailand but I think it’s also safe just to do it in your home country.

Best value eSIMs

Cheaper and more bang for buck options. DTAC/TrueMove has decent coverage in cities but weaker signal in remote areas compared to AIS. If you’re mostly traveling in popular tourist areas in Thailand, these are good picks.
