Yogyakarta is a bustling town in Java, Indonesia, famous for its cultural heritage and impressive traditional arts. It’s a stunning sight to behold, one of the most culturally rich regions in Asia, and a great experience overall.

Expectedly, the best sights in the city are temples, like Prambanan Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site featuring ballet performances in the evenings, and Borobudur Temple, an 8th Century structure 113-foot high. But it’s also nice to be in touch with the local lifestyle in Yogyakarta by traveling to the lush paddy fields or discovering the art of making batik fabric. For a dreamy escape, head to Kalibiru National Park, highlighted by a small wooden platform where one can see a 360-degree view of a lush green forest and the surrounding mountains.

Yogyakarta has a small airport, the Adisucipto International Airport, which serves regular flights to Jakarta and Bali, both have international connections to major cities. If you choose to travel by land, it could be a taxing 12-hour trip from Jakarta by bus or train.

Where to Stay in Yogyakarta

Click below & search recommended Yogyakarta hotels/hostels/home rentals within your budget. Remember to set your min/max price, travel dates, and sort by review ratings. I often book online with these trusted booking sites below for rock-bottom prices & convenient bookings.

Book sooner rather than later if you already have your dates set. Cheaper-priced rooms and hotels with high reviews tend to get fully booked faster, especially during busy days like weekends, holidays & peak tourist seasons.
