Taman Negara is a vast national park encompassing the three states of Pahang, Terengganu, and Kelantan. It’s a sprawling tropical rainforest with a total area of 4,343 square kilometers, about 135 million years old. It may be one of, if not, the oldest tropical rainforests on earth, yet it remained virgin and serene.
The legislation establishing Taman Negara was enacted in Kelantan in 1938 and Pahang and Terengganu in 1939. Pahang Taman Negara gets the largest share of the park’s area at 2,477 square kilometers. It’s where you can explore with a canopy walk, a boat ride through Tembiling and Tahan rivers, or go on an adventurous morning or night walk in the jungle. While you are at it enjoying the surrounding greeneries, you may rent any of the guesthouses or chalets in the area.
The fastest and cheapest way to get to Pahang Taman Negara is by a three-and-a-half-hour bus ride from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia’s national capital and a main gateway from international cities like Manila, Bangkok, Singapore, Jakarta, and Ho chi Minh.

Pro tip: Remember to set your minimum/maximum price, travel dates, and sort by review ratings. Book sooner rather than later if you already have your dates set. Cheaper-priced rooms and hotels with high reviews tend to get fully booked faster, especially during busy days like weekends, holidays & peak tourist seasons.
